WeAll calls for “the elimination of violence against women and gender minorities“. “Femicides take place everywhere, in homes but also outside. In public spaces, these crimes particularly target trans women, migrants, sex workers or homeless people who are too often invisible”denounces the association. Last year, 93 women were victims of femicide319 victims of attempted femicide and 773 victims of harassment by a spouse or ex-spouse leading to suicide or an attempt, i.e. 1,185 female victims in total, according to data from the interministerial mission for the protection of women (Miprof) published last Tuesday.
The associations also denounce a culture of rape deeply rooted in society : “The rapes perpetrated against Gisèle Pelicot by everyone, the “revelations” about the iconic Abbé Pierredemonstrate the deep permeation of rape culture. Almost all of the attackers are men (97.3%). In 2024, we are here: discovering that violence against women, children, LGBTQIA people, is everywhere, perpetrated by 'ordinary' men or favorite personalities of the French.writes the collective Feminist strike.
Recommendations to combat this violence
Just before these rallies, 63 organizations presented Thursday 140 measures to combat “all forms of sexual violence”including harassment, incest, child crime, cyberviolence or even “gynecological violence“. The associations are demanding that 2.6 billion euros per year be devoted to this fight.
Among the measures, sexual and emotional education at school, the effective ban on minors' access to pornography, justice “really specialized”improving the filing of complaints and access to free “psychotrauma care” for victims… The platform includes numerous recommendations from the Independent Commission on Incest and Sexual Violence Against Children ( Ciivise).
“Since #MeToo, complaints have exploded. There are almost three times as many complaints today for rape in police stations” more “not three times as many magistrates and investigators“, declared Anne-Cécile Mailfert, president of the Women's Foundation, castigating “classification rate without further action” “absolutely unprecedented“.
