During the week from Monday 4 to Sunday 10 November, the Aude gendarmes were very present along the department's traffic routes, as part of the fight against road delinquency… The Aude department has, in this regard, day, thirty-eight killed on its roads since the start of this year 2024.
If the previous week had also been deadly on the roads of the Aude department, with two deaths in a traffic accident on the Carcassonne ring road and one death near Bizanet between Narbonne and Lézignan, that of the 4th to the 10th November was just as bad… With two deaths on the department's roads: firstly on Wednesday, November 5 around 11 a.m., when a 76-year-old motorist lost control of his car in the Laure- Minervois, with an 80-year-old passenger at her side. Victim of illness, he then hit a water nozzle and ended up in the ditch. If the driver had been seriously injured in the chest, his passenger, injured in the head, died of her injuries the next day in hospital. Thursday November 7 on the D 118, between Alet-les-Bains and Limoux, an 89-year-old Couizanaise lost her life in a head-on collision.
Alongside this dramatic road toll in the Aude department, no less than 553 offenses were recorded over the past week from Monday 4 to Sunday 10 November. In terms of addictive behaviors, there were four behaviors under the influence of an alcoholic state, and eleven under the influence of narcotics. Among the pedal-to-the-mushroom enthusiasts, two hundred and thirty-three speeding violations were recorded. Among the other deviations on the road recorded by the Aude gendarmes during the past week, we note ten driving without a license, twelve refusals of priority rules and fifty-six uses of the telephone while driving. In the space of seven days, twenty-three driving licenses were retained. There were also three administrative impounds and two judicial impounds.
