Until December 4

Hearts up, movie fans ! In November, the Forum des Images offers us a dive into the deliciously sweet and sour world of romantic comedy, with a cycle that takes a daring turn. This retrospective, called “Remaking Love”, invites us to revisit the romcom at the dawn of 2024, between passionate impulses and contemporary reflections. From #MeToo to the woke movement, the love story on screen is given a philosophical and aesthetic facelift for love stories in tune with our times.

Genealogy of the French Kiss

In the first week of November, time for a revisited French Kiss. On the French side, the French romcom has nothing to be ashamed of: “L’Étudiante”, “L’Arnacoeur”, “Pas son genre” or even “Un divan à New York” will be in the spotlight for an exploration of the love myth French style. Between forgotten nuggets and timeless classics, the whole range of cinema kisses will be available, a genealogy of the “French Kiss” which promises to make us blush with pleasure!

Video game loves

What if love was now played out on an interactive screen? With teenagers navigating games like “Amour Sucré New Gen”, the cycle ventures into digital love affairs. In a fun session hosted by Julie-Anna Grignon, it's you, the spectator, who takes the reins: will you decide to send your heroine to embrace shyness or rush into the arms of destiny? A true à la carte romance!

Feminine and committed perspectives

The cycle also takes on an air of commitment and reflection with the shared perspectives of two directors. Axelle Jah Njiké, Afropean and feminist activist, is screening “A pornographic liaison”, a rare gem on sexuality and gender relations, followed by a round table to dissect these issues. As for Monia Chokri, she signs a delightful carte blanche by presenting, among others, her films “Simple as Sylvain” and “My Brother’s Wife”. A journey into the intimacy of women, with spicy humor and dazzling accuracy.

Loves on the margins

Ahead of the closing, the cycle opens its arms wide to unconventional love stories, paying tribute to LGBTQIA+ minorities and intercultural relationships, relegated to the background for too long. Films like “Go Fish,” “Love, Simon,” “The Watermelon Woman” and many others explore minority voices, challenging the traditional couple to redefine themselves. Here, love is inclusive, colorful and, finally, at the center of the story!
