Cycling celebrated in triple in Granby

“We are always ready to get the population moving in a fun and sporting way,” said Valérie Morin, head of events and sports development at Granby Multi-Sports during a press briefing on Tuesday.

During this activity, rue du Parc, rue Saint-Antoine, rue Saint-Hubert and part of rue Principale will also be closed to motorized traffic.

“The first reason for cycling is pleasure,” argues Laura Pedebas, president of the Granby à vélo citizen collective and coordinator of the event.

This is why the party will offer everything to have fun: entertainment, inflatable games, skill courses, mascots, badminton, disc golf and testing of several types of bicycles.

“Bicycling is for everyone,” recalls the mayor of Granby, Julie Bourdon, while emphasizing that the zoo town’s cycling network will reach 96 km this year.

The prefect of the MRC de la Haute-Yamaska, Paul Sarrazin, was just as enthusiastic about Tous à vélo.

“We want to make cycling a party, an event,” he says, and the region is increasingly positioning itself as a popular cycling destination.

Laura Pedebas, who expects to welcome a thousand visitors for each portion of the event that day, maintains that there is currently a “cycling momentum” in Granby.
