A page in the history of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is turning. For a month and a half, the work of demolition of the Red Ringthis office building which surrounds the station, started in the very center of Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines). The project is due to be completed in January 2025.
“It was an obsolete building which hampered the visibility of the station”, explains Yann Le Gall, general director of Codic France, real estate developer in charge of this “totally crazy complex” operation carried out for six years. “In this building, you had co-owned spaces, common areas, a company restaurant…”, he explains.
Three office buildings instead
A new real estate project called “Centrality” will be built here. ” THE more beautiful that we had to achieve in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines,” assures Yann Le Gall.
This operation will include three office buildings (14,000 m29 000 m2 and 2,000 m2) and 430 m2 of shops at the foot of the building. It now remains to find the occupants.
“We are ready, we could start the work. But you have to find the users. Nothing is accomplished. We have leads. »
The demolition of the Red Ring and the construction of this new complex will make it possible to have “ an open station and to continue the perspective towards the Guyancourt park (60 hectares)”, welcomes Lorrain Merckaert, mayor of Montigny-le-Bretonneux and first vice-president of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in charge of Urban Planning and Territorial planning.
Several other projects to come
This vast project also marks the start of the redevelopment of the city center. Main economic center of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines with more than40,000 jobsthis district designed in the 1980s will indeed be completely transformed in the future.
Other operations are planned or in progress. Located on Stephenson Street, the old INSEE building (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) will be replaced by a new real estate complex of 3,000 m2 of offices and a coliving of 245 accommodations. Delivery planned for 2025.
