Human papillomaviruses: vaccination extended to 11-14 year olds in Haute-

In Haute-, vaccination against human papillomaviruses has been modified. It will no longer only concern 5th grade middle school students but all adolescents aged 11 to 14, from January 6 to February 21, 2025.

After a first year with mixed results with 296 students vaccinated during the first dose and 262 with the second dose, the Regional Health Agency announces a new organization in 2024-2025

The ARS Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Rectorate have decided to extend the vaccination campaign to all 11-14 year olds – and not just 5th grade students.

Given the number of students concerned, the organization of vaccination will be carried out over 2 years: the first injection will take place in the 2024-2025 school year; the second a year later. Only Puy-de-Dôme has retained the vaccination schedule for 5th grade only, with both doses in the same year.

When will the HPV vaccination campaign in schools take place?

Most departments in the region will begin the school vaccination campaign in the first quarter of 2025, giving the teams responsible for vaccination time to organize themselves. In Haute-Loire, this will be done from January 6 to February 21, that is to say after the return from the Christmas holidays and before the winter holidays.

It is the educational establishments which will inform parents of the vaccination dates in their structure.

HPV vaccination is recommended, but not mandatory. The cost of vaccination in schools is fully covered.
