SECURITY / The standard received its third Military Valor Cross with palm

And « honor » which rewards a “ engagement intense »: the standard of the 4th Hunter Regiment was decorated this Monday with a third Cross of Military Valor with bronze palm. A standard which already had two crosses: one for its “intense” commitment in the Afghan theater “ and the other for his feats of arms in the Central African Republic ».
November 11, a doubly symbolic day
It was during the military parade on November 11 that the people of Gapençais were able to witness this decoration this Monday. After paying tribute to the soldiers who died for France in the morning, another ceremony took place in the city center at 2 p.m., Place Verdun. Ceremony presided over by the former commander of the 4th Hunter Regiment, between 2011 and 2013, Colonel Hervé de Courrèges. This third Cross of Military Valor salutes the commitment of the 4th RC in the Sahel, a commitment between 2014 and 2022 during operations Serval and Barkhane.
Gapençais soldiers had been deployed in Mali, Niger and Chad, obtaining “numerous tactical victories in the Sahelo-Saharan strip. The squadrons and mountain commandos of the 4th dealt severe blows to the jihadist enemy, using their maneuvering skills and proving their agility, tenacity and bravery during intense battles.. Five of his men also fell in the Sahel.
