A bigwig of crooks soon to be behind bars again? This Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Paris criminal court sentenced Marco Mouly, figure in the carbon tax scam, at three years from prison. The latter was judged for having organized his insolvency, with the aim of not paying his debts.

A prison coming and going

The 59-year-old man had alternated stays in prison. In March 2024, his suspended sentence in another case having been revoked, Marco Mouly went on the run, before going. Imprisoned in Health, he was finally released on November 2. This Tuesday, he did not appear at the hearing. An arrest warrant was issued against him.

Heavily condemned in 2017

At the end of June 2017, Marco Mouly was sentenced on appeal to eight years of imprisonment as well as one million euros in damages in the so-called “carbon tax” affair, vast VAT fraud on the market for rights to pollute. He was also sentenced jointly with the other co-defendants to pay a fine of more than 283 million euros to the French state.
