1 Return to France
Seen in the official stand at Roazhon Park on Sunday, during the home defeat against Toulouse, the Argentinian technician Sampaoli (64) was made official as the new coach of Stade Rennais on Monday evening. He is committed to the Breton club until June 2026. He succeeds Julien Stéphan, dismissed from his position on Thursday November 7 and becomes the 14th coach of the Pinault era. He arrives at the Rouge et Noir with three of his faithful deputies: Diogo Meschine, Pablo Fernandez and Marcos Fernandez. Without a club since his departure from Flamengo in September 2023, the former Argentina coach will discover a country that he knows well since he played for Olympique de Marseille during the 2021-2022 season. Note that he is the first foreign coach of Stade Rennais since László Bölöni (2003-2006).

2 “Bielsa’s Disciple”
His time in the Marseille city had been particularly successful, since he had reached, with the Olympian club, the semi-final of the Europa Conference League and secured the runner-up place in Ligue 1, behind Paris Saint-Germain. His record in Ligue 1 is currently 27 wins, 11 draws and 11 defeats. The one nicknamed “Zurdo” (the left-hander) or even “the disciple of Bielsa” is a fan of the game of possession and pressing, the players who evolved under the tutelage of the Argentinian have often swallowed the kilometers on the land.

3 Winner of the 2015 Copa América
Jorge Sampaoli will try to provide solutions to a Rennes team that has been in distress since the start of the season. The former OM coach does not have a long track record but he can boast of having won the Copa América in 2015 with Chile, the Copa Sudamericana (equivalent to the Europa League in South America) with Club Universidad of Chile (Santiago). The technician has, on the other hand, often finished second: in Ligue 1 (2022 with Marseille), in Brazil (in 2019 with Santos), finalist in the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup (2016 with Sevilla FC) .
