Mayotte strengthens scientific police with advanced technologies to secure convictions

This was one of Gérald Darmanin's promises when he was Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories, during one of his stays in Mayotte: to strengthen and develop the scientific police in the Department to further resolve and better investigations. This promise is coming true, since new technologies are being deployed to the scientific police services of Mayotte.

According to the police, odorology will be used. This method makes it possible to identify human presence at a crime scene based on odors. Furthermore, Mayotte is now equipped with Theta cameras which, as the national police writes, “ offer an immersive and detailed 360° view of crime scenes. In collaboration with the scientific police of Island, Mayotte is expanding its identification panel, thus strengthening the effectiveness of investigations.. »

These methods will now make it possible to strengthen the range of action of the police, already extremely present on the ground through the PAC to arrest. They will also improve the solidity of the files which are then transmitted to the prosecution, so that cases of offenses and crimes can lead to convictions.
