– Spectacular rescue on a climbing wall in Chablais
On Monday, a Rega crew in Lausanne carried out a high-precision helicopter hoisting on a climbing wall near Lavey-Morcles.

A group of climbers was on the so-called “Pissechèvre” wall, some 150 meters above the ground, near Lavey-Morcles (VD), when one of them fell around five meters and landed on a overhang, Monday June 17. A friend then helped him reach a platform of approximately fifty centimeters by one meter before waiting for help.
Alerted around midday, the Rega crew from Lausanne went to the site accompanied by a helicopter rescue specialist from the Swiss Alpine Club, who was winched to the scene of intervention. “He secured the patient before the emergency doctor was airlifted to the patient. Suffering from back injuries, he had to be immobilized in a winch bag before being evacuated,” Rega communicates. This equipment allows the injured person to be transported in a horizontal position.
Installed in a mattress, the injured person was then able to be airlifted.

To install this mattress, a second specialist had to be hired, allowing the doctor and patient to be airlifted to an intermediate landing place, near the Rhône. The climber was then loaded into the helicopter before being transferred to hospital. He suffered moderately serious injuries.
