Mislawchuk will take part in his third Summer Games. The 29-year-old Manitoban was the first Canadian to win a test event before the Tokyo meeting in 2021, where he finished in 15th place as he did in Rio in 2016.

Mislawchuk won his first two World Cup races, in 2019, before finishing 3rd in Montreal as part of the World Series. He returns in force at the end of a year 2023 marked by injuries.

Never two without three. I’m probably as excited as I was the first time I went to the Olympics. I learned a lot from my two previous Olympic experiences and you can’t buy that knowledge. This will help me in the last weeks of preparation.

Conversely, Emy Legault and Charles Paquet will have their first Olympic experience.

A native of Port-Cartier on the North Shore, Paquet qualified by finishing 7th in the last chance event held in May in Cagliari, Italy. The 26-year-old also placed 5th at the World Championships two weeks earlier in Yokohama, Japan.

Paquet finished 7th in Montreal in 2023, just before collecting a first World Cup podium. He also won a silver medal in the mixed relay at the Pan American Games in 2019.

It’s a childhood dream come true, I still have difficulty believing it. The Pan American Games allowed me to prepare for a similar experience at the Olympic Games. I was able to experience all the aspects of big games which can sometimes add extra stress.

A quote from Charles Paquet, triathlete

Legault is a native of Île Perrot. The 28-year-old contributed to Canada’s bronze medal in the mixed relay at the recent Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, in addition to finishing 6th in the individual event.

His record also includes four podiums in the Americas Series, two top 12 rankings in the World Series and a 10th place at the Commonwealth Games.

Going to the Olympics is the greatest reward for my efforts since I was nine years old. I had big dreams as a little girl, I hope this can inspire other young people to try triathlon and achieve their dreams. I hope to make Canada proud on July 31st.

Canada has two Olympic medals in triathlon, gold at the Sydney Games in 2000 and silver in Beijing in 2008, each time thanks to Simon Whitfield.
