Gers. This festival turns up the volume with 100% girls and 100% Gascony evenings

Four groups and artists, two evenings, two themes. At the beginning of July, the Gimont’le Son festivalin the municipality of the same name (Gers) will offer big sound and emotion under the stars.

The festival committee has put together a chef’s program in this village in the east of the department. The first edition of the festival last year highlighted Latin, house and techno DJs. For this new edition, the event adopts a rock bend on the Esplanade des Capucins.

A goddess of covers, but not only that…

The festivities will begin on Friday July 5 at 9 p.m. with Amandine Bourgeoiswhich will open the 100% girls’ evening.

Amandine Bourgeois has just released her fifth album, MEUF (A Thousand and One Women), an ode to modern femininity in all its nuances.

The artist, born in Angoulême but who made her stage debut in Tarn and Haute-Garonne, won “The New Star” in 2008. She also represented France at Eurovision five years later.

And if her pen is sharp, she also shines in covers, having participated in a number of projects in this field in homage to Alain Bashung, Scorpions, Serge Gainsbourg or Janis Joplin. She just proved a few days ago that she still excelled in this art, during her appearance on the famous show Taratata, where she performed Glory Box of Portishead.

AC/DC crazy

In the process, the Ladies Ballbreaker will set things on fire with a show of AC/DC covers.

This group of five crazy friends from the hard rock band born in 2012 in Montpellier, shared the bill with big names like Mika, Kyo, Skip the Use, Johnny Clegg… Also including, in particular, two Hellfests on the clock!

Local groups too

The next day, Saturday July 6, it will be 100% Gascony with first Waz’Uup, from 8 p.m. This local quartet of “bearded perfectionists”, plows its furrow in the American southern rock (ZZTop, etc.). A road trip with the volume turned up.

Finally, at 10 p.m., time for Salt Seeds. A collective that has been playing festivals for ten years and that we were able to see recently at the Bandas de Condom festival.

Gimont’ Le Son Festival, July 5 and 6, 2024 in Gimont. The whole program is here. Prices: 20 euros on Friday, 12 euros on Saturday, 25 euros on both days. Free for children under 12. All of the profits “if we manage to make any” will be used “to offer cultural events throughout the year to Gimont residents”, explains the festival committee.
