Val de Garonne Agglomération will host industry week on its territory, a national event. From November 18 to 29, numerous events will be dedicated to this essential link in the economic life of the region.

“The industry is a strong provider of employment in the region,” recalled Jacques Bilirit, president of VGA. “For your information, here, 22% of employees work in industry. This is a figure higher than the departmental but also national average. »

Attracting women to the industry

If companies like Lisi Aerospace, Nexteam (formerly Asquini) or even CSA Creuzet are among the standard bearers of the sector in the territorythere are in reality many other companies, more or less large, scattered throughout the Val de Garonne.

And perhaps even more than in other sectors, finding a qualified workforce is a very complicated thing for all recruiters. “Students are looking for a lot of internships but it happens too quickly and there is not enough preparation up front,” analyzed Jérôme Creuzet, manager of CSA Creuzet.

“We must ensure that young people are attracted to careers in industry. »

Industry week is therefore a good way to “ promote these sectors and these offers, particularly for the female public,” according to Jacques Bilirit.

It is in fact estimated that women occupy 20% of positions in our territory in the food industry and 15% in metallurgy. In , 60,000 jobs are vacant in the sector.

Employers looking for workers in the industry

“We are looking for workers so it is important to take an interest in women because, in concrete terms, this represents half of the population who do not come to industrial careers », adds Jérôme Creuzet.

Different tools have been put in place between organizations such as Pôle Emploi or Mission Locale, and businesses.

“We are going model skills and skills in people likely to have them because industry jobs remain very technical and difficult,” explains the entrepreneur. “ It is the company that sells itself among job seekers. There is then support within the company itself, via a tutor who provides theoretical and practical lessons. »

Chez CSA Creuzet, There are currently six of them participating in this system but the sector still needs to recruit.
