Legislative elections 2024. The candidates and the issues in the three constituencies of Lot-et-Garonne

The inhabitants of Lot-et-Garonne will go to the polls on June 30 and July 7. In the department, two-thirds won by the National Rally since 2022, the outgoing deputies have returned to the campaign. Find the lists of candidates and the issues in each constituency.

The surprise should not be big in Lot-et-Garonne. Already in 2022, the department had placed two National Rally candidates at the head of two constituencies, out of the three that make up the department. A breakthrough which was then described as “historical” and which could well be confirmed during this new election.

This Sunday, June 9, Lot-et-Garonnais voters confirmed their strong support for Marine Le Pen’s party. He won 38.62% of the vote, far ahead of the presidential majority of 12.34% or the list of Raphaël Glucksmann, which obtained 11.87%. In the department, only one seat was won, in 2022, by the presidential majority. A seat that seems very ejectable, less than two weeks before the election.

Here is the map of the results of the 2022 legislative elections

The first constituency: last membership of Ensemble

Member of Parliament for Lot-et-Garonne since 2017, mayor of Bon-Encontre, Michel Lauzzana has been, since 2022, the last bastion of the National Rally in the department. The candidate puts his mandate back into play for a third consecutive election. He will face Sébastien Delbosq for the RN and Paul Vo Van for the Popular Front. There is no Republican candidate.

In 2022, the outgoing MP obtained victory with a narrow lead. The Ensemble pour la République group won with 51.48% of the votes in the second round, against the National Rally candidate, Sébastien Delbosq. A victory of less than 1,500 votes that the candidate hopes to maintain during the next elections.

The list of candidates

  • Michel Lauzzana (Renaissance-Together for the Republic)
  • Sébastien Delbosq (National Rally)
  • Paul Vo Van (EELV-New Popular Front)
  • Patrice Cuquel
  • Mohamed El Marbati (Workers’ Struggle)

The second constituency: the confirmation of the National Rally

It is territory already acquired by the National Rally. Stronghold of Serge-Bousquet Cassagne, spokesperson for the media Coordination Rurale and fervent support of Marine Le Pen’s party, the third constituency switched to navy blue in 2022.

European MP until 2022, regional advisor, Hélène Laporte took on the role of MP during the last legislative elections. Like her sister in the second constituency, she is putting her mandate back on the line, facing new candidates. Note that there is no Republican candidate, as for the first constituency.

The list of candidates

  • Helene Laporte (National gathering)
  • Jean-Marie Lenzi (Renaissance – Together for the Republic)
  • Christophe Courrègelongue (PS -New Popular Front)
  • Nathalie Lambolez (Workers’ struggle)

The third constituency: the new Lepenist stronghold?

Regional councilor and outgoing MP, Annick Cousin announced her candidacy on June 13. After a first term, the member of the National Rally, which she joined in 2014, returned to the campaign.
In 2022, she was largely opposed to Xavier Czapla (Nupes) and Olivier Damaisin, outgoing deputy from the majority, eliminated in the first round.

On June 30, she will have to face, among others, Guillaume Lepers for the Republicans and Xavier Czapla for the New Popular Front. But also the former Budget Minister Jérôme Cahuzac, who intends to relaunch his political career, under the center-left label. Note that there is no candidate for Emmanuel Macron’s presidential majority.

The list of candidates

  • Annick Cousin (National gathering)
  • Guillaume Lepers (The Republicans)
  • Jérome Cahuzac (Center left)
  • Xavier Czapla (LFI – New Popular Front)
  • Bernadette Gasc (Workers’ Struggle)
