What does a career mean? In this case, a recurring knee injury which forced her to put an end to her football career and turned her towards cycling. Champion Annemiek van Vleuten was received at Jean-Michel Robert’s Cycles Ventoux 1910 store in Beaumes-de-Venise.

It was as part of the last stage of a 1,200 km circuit from Holland and before undertaking the ascent of Mont Ventoux that the Dutchwoman, considered a great cycling legend, made a stop in the country Muscat. Flattered, Jean-Michel Robert had planned a solid snack for the 62 runners who accompanied him, before their ascent of the Giant of Provence. It was greeted with enthusiasm and admiration by many cycling enthusiasts of all ages, including members of the Vélo Club Le Thor-Gadagne.

Simple and accessible, Annemiek van Vleuten took part in the photo and autograph session. The mayor, Jérôme Bouletin, did not fail to congratulate the champion, expressing his admiration given her very laudatory record. Indeed, Annemiek van Vleuten was, among others, Olympic time trial champion in 2020, twice world champion on the road, leading the 2011 World Cup as well as the UCI World Tour in 2018 and 2021, not counting two victories on the Tour of Flanders, four on the Tour of Italy and one on the 2022 Tour de France.
