Montfaucon: a burglar injured by gunshot during an attempted theft, the resident placed in police custody

On the evening of Saturday November 9, a burglary took a dramatic turn in Montfaucon (Gard). A resident shot and injured a suspected burglar, who had broken into his home, triggering an investigation into armed violence and attempted armed robbery.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m., when the resident, alerted by noises, allegedly discovered an armed intruder on his property. The man, accompanied by his wife, went to get a weapon before confronting the burglar, who appears not to have acted alone. Following this act of presumed self-defense, the resident was placed in police custody at the Roquemaure gendarmerie to be questioned on the facts.

The burglar, hit in the arm, was found on the grounds of the property and treated by emergency services before being hospitalized. His life would not be in danger.
