Apart from the few minutes devoted to youth, insecurity and his vision of democracy, Jordan Bardella gave pride of place to agricultural and rural issues during his meeting organized in Tonneins, a small town in Lot-et-Garonne, this Sunday, November 10.
In the afternoon, around 3:30 p.m., Jordan Bardella spoke from the stage of the Manoque room, in this town of 10,000 inhabitants. He first said a few words about the organization: “Whether in Tonneins or Marmande, what matters is that we are all together”he said, echoing the initial holding of the meeting in the community hall of Marmande, before the strong opposition of the socialist mayor Joël Hocquelet.
Then in front of a packed room of around 2,000 people, the president of the National Rally gave a speech lasting around an hour on incivility, insecurity, education, youth, censorship and agriculture. All to the applause of the public, cries of victory and the raising of tricolor flags.
In Tonneins, Jordan Bardella is on familiar ground. During the last legislative elections, the department of Lot-et-Garonne elected two deputies from the National Rally out of the three in the territory known for its rurality and agricultural land. The world of agriculture was therefore there.
“As of the start of the September school year, I said that the agricultural movement would resume, because the issues raised by farmers who are in major economic and social distress had not been addressedexplains the politician. Farmers are in great pain, because the profession no longer pays enough and because they are put into competition with products that do not respect any standards imposed on them.”
Farmer stocks are going to be hot. The rumble will be total.
Serge Bousquet-CassagnePresident of the Chamber of Agriculture of Lot-et-Garonne
A speech that makes sense in this audience mainly from the rural and agricultural world. “Today, Jordan Bardella is our last hopeconfides Serge Bousquet-Cassagne, president of the Lot-et-Garonne Chamber of Agriculture. It wasn't our first choice though.he admits, but the other members of the political class have disappointed us too much, neglected us and promised us lots of things.”
The president of the Chamber of Agriculture welcomes the fights led by Jordan Bardella: “It fights against unfair competition, whether it comes from European countries or elsewheretakes Serge Bousquet-Cassagne as an example. He fights so that farmers can have the same molecules as others. He says we must be respected. Ultimately, he's the only one who loves us.”
Jordan Bardella is young. He is outspoken and puts a lot of effort into farmers.
Didier ParrelFarmer at the head of a livestock farm in Lot-et-Garonne
Same story for Didier Parrel, president of the livestock section at the Lot-et-Garonne Chamber of Agriculture: “Jordan Bardella has interested me for a long time because the classic right has disappointed me too muchconfides the one who is at the head of a livestock and arboriculture operation. Jordan Bardella understands our expectations, it really is a hope for French agriculture.” Didier Parrel particularly congratulates a politician who surrounded himself with “people who know the industry”.
Far from this general enthusiasm for the ideas of the National Rally, a few dozen people wanted to express their dissatisfaction with the arrival of Jordan Bardella in Lot-et-Garonne. “What is happening in Tonneins is indicative of a national trend”remarks Henia Khamissi, who came to the downtown counter-meeting organized earlier in the morning. That is to say, a party which has a phenomenal score in the campaigns.”
“I cannot let this gathering take place while being inert or passive, as the mayor of Tonneins was able to beshe explains. I do not want to participate in this demonization. The technique of the National Rally is to seduce people who feel abandoned and who feel a certain anger.”
