The municipality recently deployed its strengths to convince members to the approval commissionin the hope of obtaining the targeted distinction of “Small town of character”. Between welcoming ceremony, heritage visit and moments of exchange, this day showed the municipality's commitment to promoting its history and its heritage, while being part of a dynamic of development and attractiveness. The final verdict will be known in January 2024.
A friendly welcome and an unexpected visit
It is firstly around local specialties (tome pie and squares of Vic) that the commission was welcomed. The partners and elected officials of the commission then gathered around the table where the deputies presented the broad outlines of the municipality's projects, while reaffirming their commitment and determination to obtain the label.
Thanks to the Cère Auto Rétro association, it is on board old cars that the visitors were taken to the Parc des Sources, where Mme Vachon, in period costume, awaited them for a tasting of spring waterwhile retracing Vic's thermal past.
After a visit to the tourist office where the director presented the public welcome offer, the visit continued on foot. The Marquise de la Pichette, played by Raphaëlle Mattey for “Les Vières du Sancy” took visitors to meet the historical characters who one day wandered the charming streets of the city of Carladès.
The label, an asset for Vic's future
The “Petite Cité de Caractère” label rewards rural towns with less than 6,000 inhabitants, recognized for their heritage wealth and who are committed to the attractiveness of their territory.
It allows you to attract new visitorsto boost the local economy, but also to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the candidate municipalities.
“For Vic-sur-Cère, obtaining this label would be a true recognition of the work accomplished by the municipality, its partners and residents in safeguarding its heritage, and would open up new perspectives in terms of tourism and local development. Finally, the commune was recently classified “ Remarkable Heritage Site » an important criterion for obtaining this label.
Verdict in January
Finally, a time for discussion allowed the commission to ask all its questions and reread the commitment charter.
It should be noted that before this day, a lot of work was carried out to give scope to the municipality's candidacy. A file was produced in partnership with the CAUE (architecture, town planning and environment council), incorporating the qualities of its living environment, its services but also the cultural richness of its territory. A file built around the theme “ the land of green, gray and blue» to emphasizethe characteristicsspecific to Vic-sur-Cère: its remarkable natural setting, its volcanic soil and finally its source andits waterways.
