The good man has just placed chocolate, cakes, pasta and canned goods in the already well-stocked basket. “I gave like everyone elseblurted François. I am retired, I do what I can but always with a good heart. These big girls are nice, it's really a good initiative to involve sportswomen. » LeLe, the American basketball player, smiles. “I understand a little French. I appreciate it. » With her comrade Sira Diarra, she has just taken over from her other teammates Sherazad Hanifi and Lira Rodrigues at one of the Carrefour entrances. “The entire Poinçonnet team takes part in our big annual collection”, rejoices Marie-Dominique Patureau of Mirand. The president of the Indre Food Bank praises the connection with the world of sport. “We collected 15 tonnes of food from the organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. There was even fresh produce, which is rare. »

“People know that their donations will be distributed to those who need them”

For the Food Bank, this annual fall collection is a very important time which brings together volunteers and collects a large tonnage of essential products. “It’s THE meeting place, insists Marie-Dominique Patureau de Mirand. These three days are an opportunity to give in kind. People know that their donations will be distributed to those who need them. It works. This brings together between 10 and 15% of the 500 tonnes that we harvest each year. Châteauroux Métropole with its 14 collection points (47 across the entire department) represents 50% of the ten tonnes that we collect during these three days. »

This weekend, we give as we like

More than 700 Indian volunteers are helping out. “It’s very mobilizing. In Châteauroux, we can count on a large team from a private bank, BNP, as well as Barilla employees or members of service clubs (Lions, Rotary, etc.) without forgetting the volunteers from social grocery stores and their beneficiaries. »

This weekend, we give as we like. “People give what they want to give, mark the president. It is true that the need for cooked meals, sugar, coffee and pasta is significant. You should avoid fresh products. The collection will then be sorted, stored, labeled and redistributed by our 68 partners (social grocery stores, charitable associations, etc.) to one of our 11,000 beneficiaries. »

The gift doesn't matter, as long as we have joy. “People are happy to give each according to their possibilities. This ranges from a full trolley to a simple package of cakes. Those who give proportionately the most are those who have been helped because they know we are there for them. »

Collection from the Food Bank, Saturday November 23 and Sunday November 24, in large and medium-sized stores in the city and the department.
