From midday, “temporarily heavy and stormy” rains are expected on the eastern coast of Corsica. According to Météo-France, “the intensities could be around 30 to 50 millimeters per hour in places and the accumulations approach 80 to 120 millimeters in three to six hours”.
Five other departments on storm alert
Over the entire episode, the accumulations “risk occasionally reaching 150 millimeters, or even a little more”. The Haute-Corse prefecture specifies that the sectors most impacted by bad weather will be “the coastal areas and the first foothills of the eastern facade between Cap Corse and Solenzara”.
Five other departments in the south of France (Corse-du-Sud, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Landes) are also on yellow alert for storms.
