Why do farmers and even people who are sometimes very far from the agricultural world choose to volunteer their time for the collective? What drives them? What satisfaction they get from it. These are the answers to these questions that Romain Mary sought by questioning the participants of this round table. Excerpts…

In the Moidons sector, Camille, a farmer with her partner and member, shared her experience as a volunteer within her section committee, the importance of joining the replacement service beyond “just in case” and its presence at various employment forums. “I feel like I’m useful at my level.”

In the Jura Sud sector, Léa, a farmer with her father and sister, explained to us that her commitment is reflected, like Camille, in her involvement in the section committee. “I came back because it’s very motivating. This is personnel management on a different scale. I’m learning and it helps me in organizing and managing work at home. In addition, we got into the habit of eating together, it creates conviviality and it makes people want to join us.”

Caroline, for her part, gave us a very different experience; she has no connection with agriculture since she is a psychiatric nurse. She became a godmother thanks to the “Sponsorship” system set up by Jérôme Marcasse within Soelis. She voluntarily supports and coaches a young person in their professional career. Fulfilled by this status, she advises each of us to participate in the “Sponsorship” experience. “We manage to find common values. My job is not to teach them how to milk. My job is to accompany and sometimes shake things up, to meet others, to feel useful. These little immersions bring me joy. »

Benjamin, who had been living in Lamoura for 5 years, also had this need to make himself useful and felt “indebted” for his years spent as an employee in the replacement service. He participates in forums and meets young people in agricultural establishments to recruit our future employees. “I need to create solutions to complex problems and then I need to meet my colleagues. »
