End of September 2024, Marie-Christine Roy is working to best accommodate those registered. Once a month, the vice-president and head of the New Arrivals department within l’AVF (Home of French cities) La Baule (Loire-Atlantique) is organizing a lunch with neo-Baulois. On this occasion, we met Sophie, Marie-Dominique and Jean-Philippe, delighted with their installation.
“I find everything I need, especially culturally”
At just 69 years old, Sophie moved to La Baule at the beginning of 2023. As obvious for this former Parisian:
After Covid, I told myself that I absolutely had to leave a big city and come to a much gentler and calmer place. I knew La Baule because I regularly spent my holidays there. For me, it's like a return.
A choice that she absolutely does not regret. “I find everything I need, especially on a cultural level: Atlantia offers beautiful things, the festivals come one after the other, the films premiere at the Gulf Stream and the Pouliguen and Pornichet cinemas offer more films. independent. »
“All my family and friends want to come see me”
A happiness that she shares with her family and friends:
“They absolutely all want to come and not only do they come, but they come back. For them, it's like a kind of thalassotherapy in a more relaxing and invigorating climate and rhythm.
Living alone, Sophie decided to register with the AVF to build relationships. “I was welcomed with open arms. I am offered so many activities that I have difficulty choosing them. Social gathering is going well.” The only downside for this new resident: “the storms”.
In La Baule, but riveted on Pornichet
For Marie-Dominique and Jean-Philippe, 63 and 64 years old, it was necessary to “find the equation between quality of life and proximity to the beach and be near of a big city ».
They therefore moved to La Baule at the beginning of January to spend their retirement there after falling in love… with Pornichet and the station area.
“We built on Guézy, seizing an opportunity 3 years ago. A house put back on sale even though the structural work was done. We had 48 hours to decide,” recalls the couple who lived in Fontenay-aux-Roses and worked in Paris for more than 30 years.
Even if Marie-Dominique continues to work, the new Baulois seem delighted with their choice: beach on foot, calm, less incivility et more securethan in the Paris region… “There are also many associations, particularly in Saint-Nazaire”.
