Qualified as one of the greatest poets Auvergne, Arsène Vermenouze was a great representative of the Occitan language.

The visit to his house in Vielles (Ytrac) this Saturday June 8, 2024 was a moment of meditation and important sharing. Poems and songs by the children of Calandreta, wine of honor offered by the municipality of Ytrac and folkloric shows with four Félibrean groups (Bouscas and Mini Bouscas, Iraliot, Miremontaise, Véziens) were also on the program for Saturday.

What is Félibrige?

Félibrige is a regionalist demands movement which aims to promote and organize safeguarding, the illustration and promotion of the langue d’oc. Félibrige also works to raise awareness and recognize the culture of oc In its diversity among public opinion and public authorities.

Its action is based, combining tradition to modernity on publishing, teaching, cultural creationartistic expression, audiovisual, the organization of meetings, debates… intended for the public the largest possible.

A solemn Sunday

Sunday, a mass in langue d’oc at the church of Notre Dame aux Neiges (Aurillac) was celebrated by Abbot Raymond Capgras and hosted by the Convise vocal workshop. A parade of folk groups around the Arsène Vermenouze square and the laying of a wreath at the poet’s statue.
