Inspections carried out by the Quebec Ministry of Transport do not allow the safe reopening of Highway 40 westbound in Trois-Rivières at this time.

Motorists traveling on Highway 40 will have to be patient for an indefinite period, since contraflow traffic on the opposite roadway will remain in force westbound between Rue des Prairies and Route 352.

According to ministry spokesperson Roxanne Pellerin, 40in a completely safe manner”,”text”:”monitoring the behavior of the structure and the inspections carried out at the start of the week demonstrated that last week’s interventions do not allow the reopening of the highway40 in a completely safe manner”}} “>monitoring of the behavior of the structure and inspections carried out at the start of the week demonstrated that last week’s interventions do not allow the reopening of Highway 40 in a fully safe manner.

The road was closed on June 4 due to concerns about the stability of a culvert. Work was subsequently carried out.

The problematic culvert will be replaced in 2025.
