Legislative elections 2024: the outgoing deputy from Guyana Jean-Victor Castor has submitted his candidacy to the Prefecture

He is the first to have submitted his candidacy to the Prefecture. Jean-Victor Castor, outgoing deputy for the 1st constituency of Guyana, is officially a candidate for the 2024 legislative elections. Then a deputy during the dissolution of the National Assembly, he says he wants to “absolutely continue” the work he started.

This Wednesday June 12, Loutgoing MP Jean-Victor Castor officially submitted his candidacy to the Prefecture for the first round of the legislative elections on the first constituency. He was, like Davy Rimane, one of the elected officials in office at the time of the dissolution of the National Assembly. It is therefore no surprise that he repositioned himself.

One more time, [Emmanuel Macron] decides without worrying about the serious social and political consequences“, declared Jean-Victor Castor on social networks in a text to announce the submission of his candidacy. And added: “In everyone’s opinion, this choice is totally irresponsible. Emmanuel Macron provokes the conditions of political chaos and a totally unstable parliament. Therefore, the remaining three years until the presidential elections promise to be difficult for everyone..”

For two years we have begun colossal and rigorous work, imposed a new balance of power, exposed and hammered home the reality of Guyana in parliament and in ministries. This work must absolutely continue for our country!

In 2022, he won the election in the second round with 9,038 votes cast, or 56.53% of the vote. He was facing Yvane Goua, who also announced his candidacy for 2024. She had collected 6,051 votes, or 43.47% of the vote.

Boris Chong-Sit and Jean-Philippe Dolor have also announced their candidacy. Others are expected for the first constituency. No announcement has yet been made regarding the second. Davy Rimane, outgoing MP, called on voters to vote massively on June 29.
