The Gard departmental union of the CGT sent a letter to the prefect of Gard Jérôme Bonet to inform him that he would not respond to the invitation to the inauguration of the exhibition of “Territoire à l'industrie, le Gard has talent”: “We will not be able to be present because it will not have escaped your notice that social activity is important in industrial companies (Solvay, Royal Canin, Orano Dem, Owens Corning, etc.).”
The union notes the crumbling of the industrial fabric of the department: “This is due to the strategic errors of company management. Decisions which, in addition to hampering the economic future of our territory, have strong negative impacts on the employment, working and living conditions of employees and all the inhabitants of Gard.”
The union organization indicates that it is open to joint meetings to debate with company management. The CGT asks to meet the prefect of Gard for a work meeting “on the industrial needs in our department favoring local production but also environmental issues. […] We could perhaps finally have the reality of public aid given to companies in Gard.”
