The journey of the Olympic flame in Martinique should be an unprecedented moment of joy, sharing and love of sport. This relay will not be without consequences on traffic in the municipalities concerned.

The passage of the flame Morne Rouge and at Robert (agile convoy) should have little impact on everyday life since it does not operate on public roads.
However, for security reasons, various trails on Mount Pelée will be closed to the public on Monday, June 17.

Apart from a regulation to allow the convoy to arrive at the nautical center, very little disruption is expected at the Robert. However, access to the stable pass is prohibited by prefectural decree to any non-accredited person or boat.

At Diamondtraffic will be interrupted between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the RD37, the Anse Cafard road to allow the route to Morne Larcher then Cap 110.

Traffic and parking will be prohibited from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the circuit (Avenue Nelson Mandela, rue du 24 mars 1961, rue Captain Marolles, rue Victor Schoelcher, rue Ernest André, boulevard Guilon, RD3C, RD3 between the roundabout of the shopping center of Place d’Armes and rue Victor Lamon).
In addition, diversions will be put in place from 6:30 a.m. at the Mangot-Vulcin, gendarmerie, l’Horloge and Larenty roundabouts until 9 a.m. From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., traffic will also be diverted between rue de Bois Carré and the Mangot-Vulcin roundabout for the passage of the flame towards the IMS.

Parking will be prohibited from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the parking lots of March 24, 1961, the Antonio Maceo square, the Nèg square and parking lot, the Community Aquatic Center and the Sports Palace.

Drone flying is prohibited on the flame route and surrounding areas.

Fort-de-France

Concerning the stopover town, Fort-de-France, the municipality has made numerous arrangements concerning the path of the flame from the Stade Louis Achille to the seafront.

A zone dedicated to entertainment is also planned. Palpations, inspections and searches will be carried out at the various access points.

Therefore, parking will be prohibited on the flame route from Sunday June 16 to Monday June 17. Traffic will be stopped 30 minutes before the convoy passes on Monday June 17. According to the city, detours will be put in place as the torch relay progresses.

Public transport (buses and BRT) will take a specific route with a stop at Bishop station.

To a lesser extent, traffic and parking difficulties are to be expected in the city centers of other municipalities.

Sainte Marie

The North Atlantic commune is the third to receive the Olympic flame. The relay will crisscross the streets of the town for nearly 2 kilometers.

To facilitate travel, traffic and parking are prohibited from 5:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the route (rue des Caraibes, rue de l’hôtel de ville, rue des Kaïdons, la cour de l’alliance, rue Amédée Knight, boulevard Désir Jox, rue Louis Erimée, rue Victor Schoelcher and finally rue Eugène Agricole). Traffic will also be regulated on rue Ernest Deproges. Sainte-Marie Islet and Tombolo are closed to the public during the day of Monday June 17.

Saint Pierre

On this 2.4 kilometer circuit between the cathedral and the Place de la Maison de la Bourse, 11 torchbearers will pass the Olympic torch to each other. Access to the streets of the town will be prohibited between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. It will only be possible to travel on foot.

Parking will be prohibited from Sunday 16 at 8 p.m. to Monday 17 at 4 p.m. on the fort market square, rue de l’Esclave Romain, boulevard Frantz Fanon, place de la Roxelane and the Ecomax car park. Then these restrictions extend from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday 17 over the entire route.

Dedicated parking lots have been set up. The one on rue Victor Hugo is reserved for traders. Those at Place de la Roxelane and Ecomax are for the public, school buses and motorbikes. The Gabriel Suvélor stadium will host the Philemont Montout school and the college, rue du Général de Gaulle the EHPAD du Prêcheur. Finally, the René Bramban car park will be accessible to people with reduced mobility and the press.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., a detour will connect Fort-de-France from Le Prêcheur via Rue Hurtault, Rue Schoelcher, Allée Pécoul then the Nationale 2 towards Morne Rouge via Fond-Saint-Denis. Another from Fort-de-France towards Saint-Pierre or le Prêcheur or Morne-Rouge via rue Victor Hugo, rue de la Source, rue Sainte-Rose then towards Fond-Saint-Denis.

Holy Spirit

The agile convoy will complete a one-kilometer circuit in the town between the basketball court and the stadium.

Traffic will be prohibited from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on rue Cassien Sainte-Claire, rue du captain Pierre-Rose, rue Joliot Curie, rue Perriolat and rue Schoelcher.

Parking will be prohibited from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the torch relay circuit as well as in the André Kabile stadium parking lot, the Place des Fêtes parking lot and the market parking lot. The three sites will be reserved for the flame convoy and the organization.

Schoelcher

Parking will be regulated from 6 a.m. in several areas of the city. Between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., all traffic is prohibited on the route of the relay rue Aubin Edmond, avenue Anse Madame, rue Victorius Desiré, Rue Fessenhein, rue Ernest Pierre-Jean and the road to the university.

The population is invited to postpone their travel as much as possible and to find out about the circulation zone of the two convoys (agile and engagement) so as not to be blocked.
