Since Emmanuel Macron’s announcement of the dissolution of the National AssemblySunday evening, we saw and heard a lot François Ruffin in the national media.

The outgoing deputy (LFI) of the first constituency of the Somme quickly called on all left-wing parties to unite for the legislative elections on June 30 and July 7. Call which seems to have been heard.

“I am returning to the campaign in the first constituency of the Somme”

Unsurprisingly, François Ruffin will be a good candidate for his succession in this constituency which goes from Abbeville to Amiens, and where he was easily re-elected in 2022.

“I am returning to the campaign,” he announced soberly in a press release announcing the official launch of his campaign this Wednesday, June 12.

Easily re-elected in 2022

With more than 61% of the votes won in the second round of the 2022 legislative elections, against National Rally candidate Nathalie Ribeiro-Billet, François Ruffin seems to be the big favorite for this new election.

But the context is not the same as two years ago. The overwhelming victory of the RN during the European elections on Sunday June 9, followed by the surprise dissolution opened up a new prospect for the far right: that of winning a majority in the Assembly at the beginning of July.

Will the momentum of the RN change the situation?

This possibility changes the situation, and will undoubtedly play a role in the choice of many voters.

In the 1st constituency of the Somme, the impact of this national context will be particularly closely monitored.

François Ruffin is particularly popular there. But in national elections in which it does not participate, the RN often comes out on top.

Without prejudging other candidates, it is therefore difficult to say which will dominate the other: the popularity of François Ruffin, or the National Rally wave.

François Ruffin officially launches his campaign this Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. in front of Safran in Amiens (rue Guynemer). On Thursday, June 13, he proposes a walk from 6 p.m. in Longueau (rue Gérard Philipe). He also announces two meetings public: Friday June 14 at 6 p.m. in Abbeville (310 Chaussée de Rouvroy) and Saturday June 15 at 9 a.m. in Flixecourt (house of associations).
