The company operating in the energy sector in Africa, Chariot Limited, announced significant developments in its projects in Morocco as part of its 2023 financial results.

In 2023, Chariot Limited made major progress in its gas projects in Morocco. The company has completed the initial design phase (FEED) for the Anchois gas development project, located in the Lixus offshore license. This project is scheduled to begin drilling operations in the third quarter of 2024. The partnership with Energean plc has strengthened the Anchois project, with official approvals from Moroccan authorities and a drilling contract signed with Stena Drilling.

Chariot’s onshore operations in Morocco also progressed. In July 2023, the company obtained the Loukos onshore license, including a comprehensive data set from previous seismic surveys and drilling activities. The initial drilling campaign, completed in May 2024, confirmed the presence of good quality reservoirs and multiple gas showings. The gas discovery at the OBA-1 well at the Dartois prospect, drilled to a depth of 901 meters, has been cased and cemented, with plans for future flow testing to assess its potential as a producer.

Chariot Limited is also moving forward with renewable energy initiatives in Morocco. The company has expanded its partnerships with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and Oort Energy to develop proof-of-concept projects for green hydrogen. These projects aim to use Morocco’s solar and wind resources to produce green hydrogen, contributing to the country’s energy goals. Chariot integrates renewable energy solutions and establishes large-scale green hydrogen production capabilities.

For 2024, Chariot Limited plans to continue its projects in Morocco with a drilling campaign at Anchois and continued analysis of the Loukos license. Adonis Pouroulis, CEO of Chariot, said: “We are excited about the ongoing activities and future plans for Loukos and Anchois, as well as the energy and hydrogen projects.”
