“The Container Port Performance Index 2023” from the World Bank or even the 2023 Performance Index of container ports, has published its latest ranking report for different countries. In the 2023 CPPI, more than 40 percent of all ports (162 ports) are ranked 6 places or lower than themselves in the dual ranking, while 50 percent of ports are ranked 8 places. Consistency between the two approaches contributes significantly to achieving a well-balanced aggregate index, according to the report.

The ranking was done by region and by section presenting an overview of the results of the CPPI 2023 report. We can note North America (United States and Canada), the region of Central America, South America and the Caribbean, West, Central and South Asia (Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh), East Asia (Myanmar to Japan), Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands) and from sub-Saharan Africa Europe and North Africa. For the case of Sub-Saharan Africa, we note the presence of Senegal with the port of Dakar in 381st place out of 405 ports in the world. Also, it should be noted that in sub-Saharan Africa, the port of Dakar is ahead of 9 ports. It is Tangier-Mediterranean which is the first in Africa. On the other hand, it is the port of Guinea Conakry, Abidjan and Mauritania in 208th, 342nd and 355th places respectively.

However, the port of Yangshan in China remains in first place in the world, as it did the previous year. Egypt and Morocco are the only two countries in Africa that are in the top 20 best-performing ports for 2023, unlike Europe, which is not there.
