It was an XXL project. The Chambéry departmental culinary workshop located in Bissy has finally opened its doors, after 28 months of work.

2,500 middle school students are fed every day thanks to this building described by the department as “ultra-functional”. » In this XXL kitchen, 15 agents prepare each
day of the week 3,500 meals for the 11 colleges served in
the Chambéry and Aix basins,” they add.

Objective: 6,500 meals by 2027

In this kitchen, the watchwords are clear and clear: meals will be safe, tasty, responsible and healthy. “Since January 2021, the kitchen has benefited from the Ecocert “En cuisine” level 1 label which guarantees at least 10% of products from organic farming in collective catering. With more than 49% organic products used and 34% coming from local agriculture, the culinary workshop is a good student! », Specifies the department.

If today, the establishments delivered are those of Chambéry (Jules Ferry, Louise de Savoie, Bissy and Côte Rousse), Cognin (HenryBordeaux), La Motte-Servolex (George Sand and de Boigne), La Ravoire (Edmond Rostand), Aix-les-Bains (Jean-Jacques Perret and Marlioz) and Yenne (Charles Dullin), the ultimate objective is to expand as much as possible.

“It will gradually expand its services at the rate of 3 additional colleges each
year until September 2027. 20 colleges will then be part of the adventure, on the
territories of Grand Chambéry, Grand Lac, Savoyard Foreland and Heart of Savoie
to Montmélian. The team will be strengthened to prepare and deliver 6,500 meals against
3,500 today,” concludes the department.
