While the aging of the population is increasing, the need for home support is becoming a major issue on the island. Especially since more and more elderly people are expressing the wish to spend their old age at home, in a familiar environment.

A sector in tension

The associative network national personal service (ADMR) therefore has a whole niche to exploit.

It remains to train enough personnel – often difficult to recruit – to meet the needs of the territory.

Recently, at the headquarters of the ADMR federation of Haute-Corse in Lucciana, around fifteen home helpers were rewarded for obtaining the state diploma of educational and social companion (DEAES) via the validation of acquired skills. experience (VAE). A training system which allows any person, whatever their age, level of education or status, to have their acquired experience validated to obtain professional certification. “We want to promote our teams, strengthen their expertise, and retain our employees.” confided Nonce Giacomoni, president of the Haute-Corse federation in view of the expectations of a sector in tension.

For this training, a partnership with Greta was carried out.

Little known, the profession of educational and social support (AES) covers a wide range of skills which go well beyond practical help: moral support, help with socialization, support in daily life activities.

Beyond the profession, a commitment

Nuncio Giacomoni measures the impact: “These skills also allow stakeholders to establish a relationship of trust, essential to providing comfort and stability to beneficiaries. Training qualified employees in educational and social support is part of a logic of professionalization of the sector, but above all in a commitment to those who need dignified, respectful and human support.”
