Trash fire, theft and receiving stolen goods, violence with the threat of a weapon… All in the plenitude of Argonne and its capital, Sainte-Ménehould. So many facts heard on February 28 and 29, 2024 then March 4, 2024. In one week, a young man found himself three times before the Châlons criminal court.
In two of the three cases, those concerning the damage to property and violence with weapons, his lawyer, Me Aurore Boissy, had easily obtained the release for a cruel lack of investigative actions. The evidence therefore did not allow us to assert that the accused was indeed guilty. And as they say, never two without three.
The case of concealment and theft also resulted in an acquittal at first instance. The third in a week. A recurrence which did not fail to increase the lawyer's anger.
A postponed hearing
However, if the Châlons criminal court had taken the path of acquittal, the prosecution for its part appealed this latest decision. De facto, the case had to be studied by the Court of Appeal of Reims which had to rule in turn, either in accordance with the first decision, or for a new study of this case. First scheduled for April 17 then November 6, 2024, this new (and potential) hearing was postponed to May 7, 2025, pending the decision taken by the Reims court. We will still have to wait before being able to give a final point or a follow-up to this judicial epilogue.
