Following the publication of a press release from the CGT union, here is the reaction of
Florence Dabin, President of the Department of Maine-et-Loire:
“I would like to denounce once again the lying and outrageous comments of the CGT of Maine-et-Loire, which reflect a narrow vision of the issues and challenges that face us.
First of all, concerning the Assises des Départements de France, they will cost the Department of Maine-et-Loire less than 200,000 euros (600,000 euros in expenses and 400,000 euros in revenue expected at a minimum).
As a reminder, this is a national democratic meeting bringing together more than 1,300 departmental councilors and decision-makers over three days, to defend residents in their daily lives. This event contributes to the influence and attractiveness of the region.
This attractiveness and tourism strategy carried by the Department and Anjou Tourisme with its President Philippe Chalopin, is not limited to a logo but to two years of work with numerous partners who have been able to come together and pool their resources for national and local campaigns generating long-term savings. The effects of this dynamic are already being felt.
The Department also works to strengthen training establishments for child and medico-social professionals. It is contradictory to regret the lack of trained human resources while contesting aid for this sector.
Concerning the passage of the Olympic flame in Maine-et-Loire, it is also part of a sports health, sport for all and sport of excellence strategy carried out for three years.
Today, no one, apart from the CGT, disputes the fact that the passing of this torch was a tremendous success for the department.
The CGT finally puts attractiveness spending and solidarity spending on the same level. For the record, the child protection budget alone in Maine-et-Loire amounts to more than 177 million euros in 2024. It was 121 million euros in 2021.
So let's compare what is comparable and let's be serious, our compatriots deserve better than the constant demagoguery displayed by the CGT. »
