The Nouvelle-Aquitaine regional chamber of accounts published its observations and 14 recommendations after the control of the city of Bordeaux which it renewed after its previous report in 2018. Among these observations, a few words in particular on the Girondins.
Indeed, the regional chamber of accounts targeted the Scapular Club on one point. The city of Bordeaux pays nearly 81 million euros in subsidies, an amount considered historic. Given the amount of these subsidies, the Court of Auditors advises the city of Bordeaux to strengthen its controls, in particular by increasing the precision of the amounts and types of aid. If there is no concern in particular regarding the annual ceiling, of 110,000 euros for the Girondins association and €70,000 for the commercial part – something which has been respected, she is concerned about the amount of the royalty paid by the club for the occupation of the Haillan site.
This would be “relatively low”since to the tune of a little more than 26,300 euros. The Court of Auditors therefore advised the city to “valorize and document the goods made available” in order to calculate and recover the royalties owed by the club. It must be said that the rent for the training center in Haillan is around €2,000 per month, even though it is a place of several hectares. The Sud Ouest journalist Vincent Romain even spoke of something assimilated to a “disguised subsidy”.
We should also not forget that the Metropolis has more than 20 million euros in debt, concerning the rent of Matmut Atlantique, an amount spread out until 2045.
