Week of November 4 to 10

On flea markets, in attics… Every year, old photographic collections are discovered in Franche-Comté. Their exploitation allows historians to better understand the past of our region.

In the fall of 1894, a balloon called “La Ville de ” made it possible to take aerial photographs between and Vaudrey. “This aerostat, which left Dole this morning at ten o'clock, landed in the best conditions, at two o'clock in the afternoon, on the territory of Vaudrey. It was put together by Mr. Chesnay, a photographer in Dijon, and by an amateur from Saint-Jean-de-Losne,” explains an anonymous author of the Little Comtois in the edition of November 7, 1894. He continues; “These gentlemen collected, during their trip, superb photographic views. They express their thanks to the inhabitants of the communes of Vaudrey and Mont-sous-Vaudrey, who provided them with valuable assistance in making their descent. » Do these photographs still exist? Attention those looking for research work in history!
