At the Moselle Open, next to the tennis courts, the presentation of the future Thionville Fensch Agglomération entity was held. The two presidents of the urban communities discuss the fundamental issues of this union, which will see the light of day on January 1, 2026.
It's been official for almost three months. The agglomeration communities of Portes de France – Thionville and Val de Fensch will merge to become one. A merger which concerns 23 municipalities, nearly 160,000 inhabitants and which will see the light of day on January 1, 2026.
This Tuesday at the Moselle Open, the two presidents came to present the main issues of this union: mobility, cross-border, ecological transition, attractiveness, economic development, higher education and health. “There are essential issues in our two territories. In one or two years, we will be able to say that we are doing even better than today because we are mutuality”evokes Michel Liebgott, president of the Val de Fensch urban community.
There will be no major changes in the daily lives of residents, but a desire for unity and economic improvements. The two cities therefore have a little over a year left to further discuss the major issues of this merger.
