This Sunday, June 9, the French are voting in the 2024 European elections. This ballot allows them to elect the 81 French MEPs who will sit for five years in the European Parliament in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin).

If 38 lists present themselves in this election, that of National gatheringconducted by Jordan Bardellais clearly the winner in the surveys for several weeks, followed by the list Renew of Valerie Hayer and the list Socialist Party – Public square of Raphaël Glucksmann.

European elections: instructions for use

Unlike the presidential election, the European elections are direct universal suffrage in one round. Candidates are elected proportionally, meaning that lists having obtained at least 5% of the votes benefit from a number of seats proportional to their number of votes. Seats are allocated according to the order of presentation on each list.

In 2019, the National Rally in the lead in Meurthe-et-Moselle

During the last European elections in 2019, the National gathering came first in Meurthe-et-Moselle with 26.42% of votes cast, ahead of the Renaissance list (20.10%) and the Europe Ecology list (12.35%).

THE rate of participation was a clear increase compared to the previous European elections: 50.45% in 2019 compared to 40.65% in 2014.
