Do you know Landing Accuracy (PA) ? It involves being dropped from a helicopter at around 1,000 m to hit a ridiculously small 2cm target. Those who do not believe in it are invited into the Tarn THE June 15 and 16, 2024 to attend the Castres Cup.

Landing accuracy is the oldest of the skydiving disciplines. We reassure the unbelievers, the target, a small yellow circle of the size of a 2 euro coinis visible from the sky for the good reason that it is located in the center of a black electronic disk with a radius of 16 cm, itself placed on an inflatable support of several meters intended to cushion the reception of the competitors.

Objective ? Make diamonds as many times as possible

Which jump several times. The goal ? Record as many perfect jumps as possible. Those who hit the target (this is called making a “square”) are credited with 0 cm. If they move away, we add cm to them. The winner will be the one who has achieved the minimum number of centimeters at the end of all the rounds.

And the French are very strong in this area. Since the world records belong to them. Thomas Jeannerot made 2 cm in 10 rounds in 2013. Beating Déborah Ferrand-Plat, who, in 2011, had made 3 cm.

The Gourjade park, in Castres, will therefore host this unusual show organized by the Parachutisme 81 association. The event will be open to the public, free of charge, Saturday June 15 from 9 a.m., for the first takeoff, and until 7 p.m. The next day, the jumps will start at the same time but will end earlier for a proclamation of the results expected around 11:45 a.m.

First flights and tandem jumps

Furthermore, on this occasion, first flights and tandem jumps from helicopters will be offered (registration only here).

As for the first flight, it will be by helicopter (50 euros per person and five passengers on board). For tandem jumps (450 euros with video), it will be at more than 3,000 meters of altitude for 50 seconds of free fall at 200 km/hfollowed by 6 to 8 minutes of flight under canopy. And there, the goal will not be to draw a blank…
