The end of the Great War
Let us remember, the November 11, 1918at 5:15 a.m., the first provisional armistice was signed which was to last 36 days and then be renewed. It put an end to the First World War which bloodied Europe and particularly Franceby signing the victory of the Allies and the German defeat. At 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918, the cannons finally fell silent and gave way to silence and newfound peace. For some, it was a sigh of relief. For others, tears of sadness at the memory of comrades in combat or family members who did not return.
