An investigation was opened after the attack on a 78-year-old man, which occurred in the middle of the street in Issoire (Puy-de-Dôme) this Sunday, November 3, 2024. While he was walking home with his wife around 7 p.m. h, the victim was stabbed in the chest and leg.
He was rushed to the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital. According to our colleagues at The Mountain his vital prognosis would no longer be in jeopardy at this time.
A gratuitous and despicable act
Law enforcement has not yet determined the motive of the attacker, who is still on the run. Bertrand Barraud, mayor of Issoire, expressed to our colleagues his solidarity with the victim, describing the act as “gratuitous and vile”.
