Forty-four days without a prefect in Eure. A replacement for Simon Babre has finally been appointed by the President of the Republic, effective Thursday October 31. It is therefore Charles Giusti who takes over the functions of State representative in the department. The announcement was made official following the publication of the official journal. The person concerned therefore leaves his old office in Rodez to join his new one, in Évreux.
A military career
Before becoming a civil servant, Charles Giusti had a career as an officer in the French Navy. A student at the Mousses school, then at the naval school at the age of 20, he became an officer in 1990. He traveled the world until 1995, at the same time studying engineering at the École nationale supérieure de techniques advances. He then joined the Navy staff as a technical expert at the rank of lieutenant captain, then frigate captain. He served a year as deputy commander of an anti-submarine frigate. He finally joined the administration from 2002.
A tour of the ministries
Charles Giusti's career then oscillated between different structures and a few ministries. First in the civil security human resources office, he then became responsible for the service's air assets. In 2008, he moved to National Education with the position of deputy director in the department of youth, popular education and community life. In 2011, he returned to civil security in crisis planning and management. He was then deputy director of the prison administration, then overseas.
His third prefecture
It was in 2020 that Charles Giusti became prefect for the first time. He goes very far from the metropolis, since he takes charge of senior prefect administrator of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF). He returned to France as prefect of Aveyron in 2022before his appointment to Évreux two years later. At 61, this is the third prefecture he has joined. He replaces Simon Babre, appointed at the end of September to the cabinet of new Prime Minister Michel Barnier.
