A 57-year-old craftsman from Île d'Yeu (Vendée) was convicted by the courts on Thursday October 31, 2024. He was found guilty of theft, harassment and violence against his ex-wife and of his new companion, reports Le Courrier Vendéen.
Four years in prison
The defendant, who drank alcohol regularly, sent hundreds of messages to the family between June and September 2024. These contained “repeated death threats”declared his ex-partner, with whom he has been separated for five years. While he no longer had the right to go there, the fifty-year-old also returned to their former residence to steal two bicycles and attack his new companion, our colleagues specify. To escape him, the family had to move to Gard.
At the hearing, the defendant considered the victims responsible for his decline “physical and moral”accusing them of preventing him from seeing his 11-year-old daughter. He also denied the theft, believing that the bikes were at his home, reports Le Courrier Vendéen. The court finally sentenced him to five years in prison, four of which were closed. He also received an obligation of care and work, as well as a ban on having contact with the couple and their daughter.
