And so that the event is not limited to the small hour during which the Flame will travel, the City has put in place a whole program of activities. “All along the route, we wanted to create spots with initiations and demonstrations offered by Haut-Marne associations, which will start at 2 p.m.,” explains Mokhtar Kahlal. “There will be some at the socio-cultural center, at the future multi-sports complex (ex-Décathlon), on Quai Lamartine, on Place Aristide-Briand and on the forecourt of Les Halles. » Activities that will last until the passing of the Olympic Flame.

As for the Jard park, it will be transformed into a “celebration site” from 3:30 p.m. “From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., we do what we want,” rejoices Mokhtar Kahlal. “There will be a dunk show, freestyle, break, various demonstrations… It will be the showcase of bragarde community life. Then, at 5:30 p.m., the Paris 2024 organizing committee takes control, until the arrival of the Flame. » We are talking about the official speeches, around the stands of the various partners and the Flame entry ritual.

A guard of honor to welcome the Flame

Arriving via Avenue Pasteur, the last torchbearers will enter the Parc du Jard via the entrance to the Henri-Rollin crossroads. “They will be welcomed by a guard of honor of 24 Haut-Marne athletes selected by the Departmental Council, including three Bragards: Marie-Christine Simon, president of the UJB Escrime and member of the WHO, Aurélie Magot, president of the Saint -Dizier Twirling and member of the WHO and Joël Depauw, sports educator at COSD Athletics. »

And once the cauldron is lit? “For Paris 2024, the celebration site must close at 8 p.m. But in Saint-Dizier, we don’t want to leave people hungry. So, with the Union of Bragard Merchants, we decided to have a big sales sale, until midnight, in the city center, with musical performances on Place Aristide-Briand (1990s to today), Place Emile- Mauguet (electro), Place des Petites Halles (80s) and Les Halles (world music). »

Bragards at the Olympic and Paralympic Games

The City, which expects 10 to 15,000 people for this historic day, will also be presented with one of the Olympic torches, during a ceremony at the “receptive site”, namely the City Hall, in the presence of 300 guests.

Furthermore, thanks to the Terre de Jeux label, the City was able to purchase 400 tickets to allow Bragards to attend events at the Olympic Games (250 places) and Paralympics (150 places): rugby sevens, breakdancing, rowing, beach volleyball, handball, para-athletics, para-archery and wheelchair basketball. Finally, a draw will allow certain finishers of the 10 km of Saint-Dizier and the Marathon du Der to win a bib for the 10 km and the Marathon for all of the Paris 2024 Games.
