The Lille flea market returns this weekend from September 14 to 15 for a 2024 edition postponed by one week. A return that should take place under dry weather, according to the various weather forecasts.

This weekend of September 14-15 marks the return of the Lille flea market. A 2024 edition that has been long awaited, since for the first time in its history, the event has been postponed by a week due to the Paralympic Games.

A postponement to the second weekend of September which could have raised fears of a weather with a taste of autumn with possible rain. Last August, during a press briefing, Jacques Richir, deputy at the Lille flea market, wanted to be reassuring. “The weather is generally nice in Lille in September, we are lucky to often have a pleasant late season,” he assured.

The latest forecasts prove Jacques Richir right. According to Météo-France, the rain should not disturb bargain hunters in their search for a good deal. “For two days now, the forecasts have been holding up and are announcing a fairly significant improvement in the weather for this weekend,” meteorologist and forecaster Patrick Marlière confirmed to BFM Grand Lille this week.

A generally sunny weekend

On Saturday, September 14, sunny spells are expected throughout the morning and afternoon with temperatures reaching 18°C, slightly below seasonal norms.

The dealers who will be present from the opening at 8 am will have to be well covered, because the mercury will be at least 8°C in the morning. In the evening, the sky will be overcast, but no precipitation is expected while the temperature will still reach 15°C.

Sunday, September 15 will start under similar auspices to Saturday. In the morning, the sky will be blue and clear and the thermometer will reach 8°C. In the afternoon, a few clouds will appear in the sky. However, the weather will remain rather pleasant and the mercury will climb to 19°C during the day, according to Météo-France.

The weather forecasting institute does not predict any rain for the bradeux throughout the weekend. It will still be significantly less hot than last year when the weather conditions were summery.
