The Greens’ performance
It’s a great collective victory. We saw a real, real team with the values we want to see here. We also saw a crowd and in moments like the end of the match, we need that strength. Well done to the players, well done to the crowd. We came up against a very good Lille team, very technical, but we were very disciplined. That’s what allowed us to win.
The positive points
We raised the bar on several aspects, particularly technically with longer and more interesting sequences. We saw players who had more confidence in themselves, who were able to hold the ball better. The contribution of the newcomers was also interesting. To exist in this championship, mentally, technically and tactically, we had to raise the bar. Tonight, I saw a lot of things that I want to see again: the ability to keep the ball, the ability to be more solid defensively. We still have some work to do, particularly on set pieces, on both the defensive and offensive levels.
The sequel
There was a lot of running and energy expenditure. I saw that and it needs to be repeated. We are building a team, it takes time. I know that some are very impatient, but we will have to be patient. We are still missing a few individuals, we have injuries to recover, but I am hopeful that my group will fight in every match. In this championship, we will need the whole group. Some have returned, others can also come and help us.
