On the occasion of the Châlons-en-Champagne Fair, Marie Dépaquy, the vice-president of the Department in charge of the elderly, alongside Eric Kariger, departmental advisor and gerontologist, presented the new departmental gerontological plan for 2024/2029. A need for adaptation for the Department while the population, as in many other departments, tends to age: in 2020, 147,000 Marnais were over 60 years old.And from 2030 the number of people over 75 years old should increase by almost 38%.
Community in charge of policies related to old age on the Marne, the Department therefore brought together field actors, elected officials and institutional leaders, partners and associations, to imagine together the roadmap for aging well for the 5 years to come.
This gerontological plan is intended to be a territorial management tool to develop existing systems and create new actions to support the autonomy and home support of seniors, but also to adapt the medical accommodation offer.
