Last Wednesday, a resident of Giens experienced a tragedy in the heart of the forests of Bormes-les-Mimosas, in the Var. While he was out hunting for mushrooms with two friends, this young 38-year-old father was injured by a gunshot during a wild boar hunt, reports Var matin.
A morning of picking that turns into drama
The group of friends had started picking around 7:30 a.m. Shortly after 9:30 a.m., the victim was below, about twenty meters from the shooting zone where the hunting company of Bormes Lou Pardigaou had organized a beaten with wild boar. The gatherers unfortunately found themselves within the perimeter of the hunt, and one of them was hit by a shot.
Amputation and investigation
Emergency transported to La Timone hospital in Marseille, the young father had to have one of his legs amputated.
The perpetrator of the shooting, an 82-year-old man, was taken into police custody by the gendarmes before being released. An investigation for “unintentional violence with a weapon” was opened and could be reclassified as “unintentional violence with a weapon resulting in permanent disability”.
