He finds his stolen bike thanks to Fnuci, the file that fights against cycle theft in France

According to our colleagues atActu.fra man would have managed to find his stolen bike in Mont-de-Marsan thanks to the Single National Cycle File (Fnuci). In the Landes department, the gendarmerie uses this method to identify vehicles.

This is a strategy that has proven to be very effective: identified bicycles can then be returned to their owners when they were stolen a few days or weeks earlier in the year.

Fight against theft

It was during a search in Bretagne-de-Marsan that the police got their hands on the stolen bicycle, among several stolen items. The police then contacted the owner who was given his bicycle costing several hundred euros.

In view of a sharp increase in thefts, a specific measure was introduced in 2020 to allow the identification of all new bicycles. These now have a special number which allows them to be returned to their owners when they are discovered. It is therefore advisable to register slightly older bicycles through associations, resellers or even repair workshops, in case you are the victim of theft.
